Gr 3-6-With the upcoming Olympics this summer, readers are likely to be asking for books on this topic. Bragg provides information about the sport itself rather than how to perfect one's own skills. Four chapters provide a brief history of gymnastics, descriptions of the six events for boys and the four events for girls, the basic moves, the general workout, and competition. The events and some of the skills are shown in excellent-quality full-color photographs on each page. Interesting facts in orange boxes appear throughout. Janice C. Nice Book for all Gymnasts
I thought this was a nice gymnastics book. It had a history of gymnastics, a section with skills, a competitive section, and an advanced section. The history part was interesting. I learned stuff about gymnastics I never knew about before! I also thought the part about basic gymnastics skills was nice too, because there were color photos and a paragraph about how to perform the skill. The part about competitive gymnastics is perfect for anyone who is thinking about or is a competitive gymnast. Last, there was an advanced section at the end, with difficult and spectacular moves. This is the perfect resource for all gymnasts!
Good Information
Fundamental Gymnastics is a good book for people who want to know about the sport of gymnastics. I have only given it three stars because I prefer books that focus on teaching skills. But this is a very interesting book, I especially liked the history section.
