Turn towards Hope
We're riding the crest of a wave, here, back to something human.
This country's 20-year-long, wild, combative "Free-Market" ride off the Extreme Right end of the scale is brought into question as Ms. Zoglin dares to utter the dismissed term "Collective" again.
But she's not talking about Politics! There is no discussion of Democrats vs Republican, Conservative or Liberal. She is using her extensive credentials in community development to blueprint a simple, grass roots plan that promises to harness the boiling megatons of energy in today's disenfranchised youth. Her world focus is from the bottom up, working one-on-one, using old fashioned concepts of humility, respect and love to inspire us. She embraces the existing system and offers a real, workable plan that relies on nothing more than a bit of "trickle down" from the Have's. Fund us, she challenges, and we can work miracles... for ourselves, the country and the World.
This is a brilliant, postive work.
It's not reality TV: it could be real life
This book, part reality, part fiction--inspires us to imagine possibilities. It asks that we imagine what could happen if a sensible, farsighted and workable plan for meeting basic needs in the world's poorest nations were funded and implemented--a plan that also would offer our young men and women a chance to participate in a cooperative, meaningful, and enduring project. This is no mere fantasy; Zoglin's narrative voice is believable, her concern rings true, and her approach makes sense. All of us who refuse to give up on our humanity, who believe that the pen really is mightier than the sword--should read this book.
Brilliant
Why isn't this already a reality! What a brilliant plan to get peace in the world and at the same time bring infrastructure to places that desperately need it! Reading this book makes you truly believe that it's possible. This is a must read for anyone that can read.
