Great little field guide
This is a great little field guide for many of Florida's commonly seen butterflies in the field and garden. One of the best features for beginning butterfliers is the inclusion of an actual aize silhouette for each species in the book. This is great for beginners to be able to tell whether a particular butterfly they are seeing could be a certain species in the book. For each species, there are pictures of the adult butterfly, most also have pictures of the larva, some have pictures of male and female if different, and all have information about favorite nectar plants and the larval/host plants. There is also a range map for each species so you can see if this butterfly is commonly seen in your area. This book is small and lightweight, making it easy to carry in the field. Also, the information can be used to plan your butterfly garden as well as identify the butterfly or caterpillar you are seeing. I highly recommend this book to beginners and experienced butterfliers alike. I have many years of experience identifying butterflies and gardening for butterflies and I still use this little book as a field reference and take it with me when I shop for butterfly plants.
Love it!
I'm loving this handy book. I enjoy taking pictures of butterflies, and now I can identify them and act ever-so-smart to my friends and family.
