Product Description

George Foreman is one of the most highly recognizable figures on the planet. God in My Corner tells not only the life story of George, but more importantly, it tells how God has been behind the scenes of every part of his life--from a boyhood marked by scrapes with the law, to Olympian gold medalist, to tow-time heavyweight champion of the world, to father of a family of ten, to ordained minister, to founder of The George Foreman Youth Community Center, to successful businessman. God has been there every step of the way, building George into a man of faith who is seen worldwide as a positive role model and man whose face is always beaming with the joy that only God can give. Now George shares those life lessons with the world.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
In his spiritual autobiography, Foreman writes, "I have God in my corner." He hopes the readers who take to heart his "tips from George's corner," found at the end of each chapter, will, too. In this book—part autobiography and largely a testimonial and spiritual inspiration—Foreman, well-known heavyweight boxing champion, businessman and preacher, leads readers through steps for living a godly Christian life. His book gives some autobiographical details, including his younger years, a few stories of his fights and most powerfully his experience of being born again after a boxing match he lost to Jimmy Young. Those stories serve to illustrate his theology, covered in short chapters that read like sermons. He exhorts readers to inspire others to excellence, answer the door when opportunity knocks, close it when temptation knocks, advance through adversity and so on. Foreman credits God with his remarkable successes throughout the book and ends it with an altar call, inviting readers to meet him in heaven someday. Non-Christian boxing fans probably won't find enough about boxing or Foreman, but evangelical Christians who admire Foreman's many good works will find the book inspirational. (May 22)

Customer Reviews

One of the best .....................5
I have read many books over the years and this book is the most inspiring book that I have ever read. I would recommend it to anyone. If you have a troubled teanager or simply for yourself, this book is like a complete guide to help you through life and make the right choices. I was glad that I bought this book. It is so inspiring! George Foreman is a TRUE role model.

Following in the footsteps of his 2002 classic5
I bought this book today...what a pleasant surprise. My first reaction is that is is an expanded, faith-based revisiting of the material George covered in 2002's excellent "George Foreman's Guide to Life: How to Get Up Off the Canvas When Life Knocks You Down."

There is a sense of wisdom, of humilty, of compassion that comes through in George's books. It's not a book designed to make you feel good about yourself. It's a book that encourages the reader to take every day as it comes, good or bad, and just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

The 18 chapters are titled "The Phone Call That Changed My Life," "The Day I Died," "Get Me A Hit Man," "What Will People Think Of Me," "A Fighting Preacher," "Being Optimistic In A Pessimistic World," "Appreciate Today," "God Will Direct Your Steps," "The Worst Thing Can Be The Best Thing," "Inspiring Others To Excellence," "Advancing Through Adversity," "Integrity - Don't Leave Home Without It," "When Opportunity Knocks, Answer The Door," "The Secret Of Success," "Do Your Giving While You're Living," "Age Forty Isn't A Death Sentence," "Why I Named All My Sons George," and "Will I Meet You In Heaven?"

This is not a "pie in the sky" look at life through rose-colored glasses. George acknowledges life for what it is: demanding, challenging, and ultimately rewarding. Your attitude determines the actions you will or will not take. Go back to the first paragraph of my review and re-read the title of his 2002 book. That's George's testimony. That's what the book is about.

Knockout for the Lord through George Foreman.5
I bought this book on Saturday at Borders not through Amazon. However this was one of the best books I have ever read. George Foreman talks about a side and a time that not many people know about him. He brings it to you so descriptive and inspirational that it makes you want to get up and go to Church which is what I did on Sunday. He explains the smile on his face and what makes him such a nice man to be around. George tells how God is in his corner and how God can also be in our corner. It does not matter your status in life or where you are at, God can make it right. This book has given me inspiration beyond description and I recommend it to not only people who love George the boxer and tv personality but to those who may not have a clue who he is. This book is touching and to anyone who may need a touch of inspiration and a Word from God I truly recommend this book to them. God Bless.
