Buy used from: $6.00
You have to import this one from the other side of the pond. The advantage of this book is that the basic history is accurate (although it helps to have a working knowledge of British history going in). The book provides a fast-paced overview of British history, and the witty asides and conspicuous anachronisms are a delight.

A former writer for the "Daily Show" mocks the "On This Day in History" style of book. The dates are pretty accurate, but the commentary is anything but. Wickedly funny.

Not history, exactly, but still very funny. Filled with anachronisms and made up countries, coupled with a lot of wry commentary.

This one is less a parody than a reasonably respectable book of world history, except that the narrative flows in a witty and irreverant way.

The thing speaks for itself: The Onion's take on the 20th Century. "Microsoft Patents Ones and Zeros" captures the flavor.

Given the grim topic, this is a surprisingly humorous and even hopeful look at conflicts raging around the world. Very sobering, all the same.

Will Cuppy's classic, still funny more than fifty years after it was published.
