![]() | X-Men: Deadly Genesis by Ed Brubaker

![]() | X-Men: Supernovas by Mike Carey
Buy new: $21.89 / Used from: $9.44 The two core X-Men books finally start to matter again as they both get new creative teams. Mike Carey's X-Men has a nineties feel to it.
![]() | Uncanny X-Men: Rise & Fall of the Shi'ar Empire (v. 1) by Ed Brubaker
Buy new: $19.79 / Used from: $6.98 Ed Brubaker's first arc on Uncanny follows up on Deadly Genesis as Xavier leads a team to chase Vulcan into space. It has some pacing issues, but its pretty good.

![]() | X-Men Endangered Species One Shot by Mike Carey
The path to Messiah Complex begins here.
![]() | New X-Men: Childhood's End, Vol. 5 (v. 5) by Craig Kyle
Buy new: $12.23 / Used from: $9.89 The New X-Men arc has really no relevance, but is very good and the closest thing to a proper fairwell the series gets (it was quietly cancelled during Messiah CompleX).
![]() | X-Factor, Vol. 4: Heart of Ice (X-Men) (v. 4) by Peter David
Buy new: $12.23 / Used from: $10.00 The X-Factor arc is only slightly more relevant than New X-Men's, simply because it uses the turn "Endangered Species." Good, nonetheless.
![]() | The Extremists (Uncanny X-Men) by Ed Brubaker
Buy new: $11.19 / Used from: $3.75 This arc is kind of dull, but it does hint at things to come for Magneto.
![]() | X-Men: Blinded by the Light by Mike Carey

![]() | Astonishing X-Men, Vol. 3: Torn (v. 3) by Joss Whedon

Buy new: $13.59 / Used from: $8.66 The absolutely amazing finale to Whedon and Cassaday's run.
![]() | X-Men: Messiah Complex by Mike Carey
Buy used from: $97.18 The first X-over in a decade, its worth the wait. Lots of action, double-crossing, and great storytelling make this one a big winner, featuring characters from all four of the major x-books.
![]() | Wolverine: Get Mystique by Jason Aaron
Buy new: $8.79 / Used from: $3.60 The verdict is still out on a lot of the "Divided We Stand" post-MC titles, so I'm going to list them all and give my opinion.
Wolverine picks up no more than hours after MC, with Cyclops sending Wolverine on a hunt for Mystique. One of the best Wolverine stories in years. Too bad Aaron left the book for Mark Millar right after.
![]() | X-Men Legacy Vol. 1: Divided He Stands (v. 1) by Mike Carey
Buy new: $13.59 / Used from: $4.47 X-Men becomes X-Men: Legacy, a Professor X solo book of sorts. After an amazing first issue, the series slows a lot. Its still pretty decent though, and definitely great for old X-fans.
![]() | Cable, Vol. 1: Messiah War (v. 1) by Duane Swierczynski
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $5.85 Cable's new solo series has a lot of potential, but so far has been ridiculously slow. Its got atmosphere, but so far that's about it.
![]() | X-Factor, Vol. 5: The Only Game in Town by Peter David
Buy new: $13.59 / Used from: $10.03 No one felt the effects of Messiah Complex as much as X-Factor did, losing two members in the process, and it shows as Madrox is at wits end. Another great arc, featuring Arcade.
![]() | X-Men: Divided We Stand by Mike Carey
Buy new: $11.04 / Used from: $5.22 This collects X-Men: Divided We Stand #1 and 2 and the X-Men Free Comic Book Day 2008. Basically, a bunch of good short stories about characters trying to figure out what to do in a world without X-Men.
![]() | Uncanny X-Men: Divided We Stand by Ed Brubaker
Buy new: $10.39 / Used from: $6.94 Don't let the covers fool you, this is not the same as the book above. Definitely the most improved book coming out of MC, Brubaker seems to be having a lot of fun having classic adventures with Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Colossus in Russia while Cyclops and Emma relax in the Savage Land. Good stuff.
![]() | Young X-Men # 1 by Marc Guggenheim
Buy used from: $2.00 The trade isn't listed, but the last Divided We Stand series is Young X-Men. It replaces New X-Men, but is honestly pretty awful, nowhere near as good as New X-Men, and is probably best left alone.
