Great Expectations (Penguin Classics)Great Expectations (Penguin Classics) by Charles Dickens
Buy new: $8.00 / Used from: $1.63
A great read... I read this first in high school but did not get the totally understanding until I read it as an adult... This book is really a gem... One thing to note in this book is how people are related to each other... Dickens' gives clues about people but does not explicitly state their relationship... Also, people are different from what people expect from them...

Jane Eyre (Penguin Classics)Jane Eyre (Penguin Classics) by Charlotte Brontë
Buy new: $8.00 / Used from: $0.47
A great love story... The characters are wonderful and relate well today even though the book was written in the 1800's. This is the only Charlotte Bronte book that I have read. I have started on the Professor but I need to finish is sometime...
Howards End (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics)Howards End (Penguin Twentieth-Century Classics) by E. M. Forster
Buy new: $7.91 / Used from: $0.99
Wonderful book... The book was written in 1910 that takes place in London and at Howard's End (in Hilton - not sure if this is a real city)... The main characters are women and they are very strong and independent... A must read for everyone... The movie version was done very well.... I recommend reading the book before seeing the movie so that you can appreciate the characters more.
Dracula (Penguin Classics)Dracula (Penguin Classics) by Bram Stoker
Buy new: $11.66 / Used from: $2.22
A great book... The characters are great... Even though it is a horror story, I did not scare me much (maybe some of neck hairs were standing)... The book is written in journal form but does not detract anything from being written this way...
Frankenstein (Penguin Classics)Frankenstein (Penguin Classics) by Mary Shelley

The Octopus: A Story of California (Twentieth Century Classics) (v. 1)The Octopus: A Story of California (Twentieth Century Classics) (v. 1) by Frank Norris
Buy new: $12.75 / Used from: $0.61
Another great read; similar to the style of John Steinbeck. This book is about the farmer which are getting the business by the 800 pound gorilla; the railroad. The railroad is mired in corruption and they push the farmers to far which causes them to react... The setting is in California in the 1880's...
