although the events that take place are not of this world, murakami has a way of making them seem perfectly logical and normal, like you are being allowed into this secret society where magical things happen all the time.

seriously have to give this book time. when i was in high school i fell in love with roark, the talented architect that was such a genius a hole ( they don't let me use " inappropriate language" hole he didn't care if he ever got credit for his success. now i just think he's an egotistical a hole, but the book is still amazing.

i never read memoirs until a friend gave me this book. it has all the mystical things i love about murakami, only less mystical and more " my family is f'ing crazy ". i cried a lot, i laughed a lot.

seriously a million times better then the movie. this book is so well written that i could smell the things they described, and they where not always good. people go blind, one person does not go blind, but says she is, people are not blind anymore, lots of messy stuff in between.

did not like the first part of the book, but well worth it for the last bit. i can't really describe it but death is a beautiful women.
