cooling pad5
I have a large laptop, and this is the only 17" one I've found. it works great. its large enough for my laptop too. the only down fall is that its using a usb cable and its probably not too easy to fit into a backpack. however this cooling pad keeps my laptop cooler than the other 3 I've had over the years. I was thinking about getting a second one.

Good, not perfect3
For years, I have had to prop my Dell Inspiron 8500 up on a variety of objects (a triangular architect's scale worked best) to keep it from scorching the tabletop. The Evercool provides a much better alternative.

Previous reviewers have suggested that this unit is "very quiet". I know that a Boeing 777 is much quieter on takeoff than a Boeing 747, but very quiet, not. So it is with the Evercool. I turn the fans on only intermittently which keeps the computer reasonably cool while giving me some relief from the extra dBs.

Not desgined for use on your lap1
I have now tried 3 laptop cooling stations. The first two were not long enough but were comfortable on my lap and kept my laptop very cool. This product is long enough to cover the entire base of my laptop however, the edges are so sharp that it is painful to rest it on my lap. In addition, even though there are 2 fans, my laptop is still running warmer than I would like. The core temp is running about 10 degrees warmer than with the other coolers I have used and the graphic unit is about 15 degrees warmer.

I think if I was going to use this on a desk, it may be sufficient and would be the best option of the three that I have tried, however, when resting on my lap, it was painful and didn't get the job done.
