These are terrific
I love these turbo ovens and have been using them for years.
The Aroma brand of products never disappoints for quality and usability and this oven is no exception.
Basically it sits on your counter. You load the pot with food such as chicken wings or a pork roast or a whole chicken or just about anything.
The lid contains a heater and a fan and it blows superhot air across the food cooking it. It can give the effect of either deep frying without the oil and fat or a rotisserie except you can do it on the countertop with no special equipment.
For the worlds best wing:
Turbo Wings
3-4 pounds of defrosted chicken wings - whole or separated into wings and drumettes
Season with:
Kosher salt
Spicy Hungarian Paprika
Cayenne - a light sprinkle
a dash of pepper
a dusting of garlic powder to taste
Pack loosely into the turbo over. Roast at high heat ~375-400'F for about 15-20 minutes. Watch them cook.
When done they have this awesome crispy outside with tender juicy meat inside.
I've tried these wings a variety of ways including a regular convection over and somehow they are never as good as with the turbo oven. I think the air circulation is better in the more confined space of the turbo.
This will give you years of delicious fast preparing food for the busy person, and the unit cleans in a snap.
Well worth the price. I just bought another one here from Amazon to replace one I have thats 14 years old. I broke the pot by accident. The heater and turbo unit are still fine and work great.
Five Stars So Far
I ordered the Aroma AST900E-Turbo Oven when the Aroma oven that I owned for over 2 years broke. To be precise, one of the three power prongs melted into the removable power cable. When I pulled out the cable, the prong came out with it and you could see where some of the rubber melted. Up until that fateful event, the oven worked great and my wife and I were very happy with it. With that I looked at other similar countertop convection ovens and decided to stick with Aroma as we could still use much of the racks and the big pot from our old one. We ordered it from Amazon on a Sunday night and got it on Wednesday - we were so happy to get our new one so quickly!
When I started using the oven I noticed some differences...
First, the power cord is permanently attached to the top heating unit - no more detachable plug. I liked having the detachable plug but it is no deal breaker. Makes me wonder if I was not the only one who had the power cord melting problem.
Secondly, it is much quieter. So much quieter in fact that we thought it wasn't working properly when we got it. We were very wrong as our food cooks way faster with this new model. A definite plus - quieter and cooks better.
All and all we are very happy with the new model although we can't vouch for its longevity yet but it cooks food wonderfully.
One cooking tip (that can used for this or any similar countertop convection over...if you put a heat resistant plate until the lower cooking rack when you cook chicken, steak, or burgers (which cook fantastic by the way) all the grease drips onto the plate (instead of the bottom of the big pot) and cleaning up is a breeze. You literally only have to clean the plate and wipe around the bowl. Very convenient!
Not as good as I expected
I am doing a lot of baking lately and decided to get a convection oven so I don't have to turn the large oven on every day in the summer heat. After reading the reviews and checking out interior dimensions of the countertop ovens out there I decided to go with the Aroma turbo oven. I got mine last Friday and a whole chicken just waited for the package to arrive marinating for a full day. I followed the instructions (10 min for every pound at 400F) and the top of the chicken came out wonderful, but the bottom was still raw. No big deal! Turned the chicken over and put it back to roast for 10 min/pound at 400F again. It turned out to be very nice, but the inside was raw, bloody bones here and there. So, I had to cut the chicken in half and put it back for an additional 15 more minutes to get the inside done right too. This was my first trial. Then the next day I went for baking cinnamon rolls, and that was a total mess. While the rolls on the top were done the bottom halves were raw. Had to turn them over and bake them again. They came out OK, but have no commercial look for sure. So, for the bread yesterday I went back to the regular oven and baked it there, as it is obvious to me that the fan does not circulate enough the air in the container to get the bottom done too. I just wonder if anyone else is having this problem, or I just got a faulty unit?
