Latte mug(s) for coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, and soup. Aim to get one or two that will hold 16 - 20 oz each. You can prepare some foods right in the cup.

You don't actually intend to clean your pizza pan. Always line it with foil, so cleanup will be easy. Never run out of foil.

You probably want a skillet. It doesn't matter whether it is "nonstick" or not, because the finish will wear away with dorm abuse. Do not get cast iron - they are not suited for amateurs. 12" is a nice versatile size.

Get a cheap saucepan with lid. Somewhere between 2 - 3 quarts. You can make pasta and/or veggies in it.

You will want something to store your cooking stuff in, unless you are lucky enough to have an apartment style dorm. (Choose the size that fits what you bring to school.) These are also good when moving in and out.

So I am partially kidding by listing this. Most college kids will want 2 soup spoons and 2 forks to go with the 2 sharp knives. But chopsticks are amazingly versatile for food preparation as well as consumption.

Cover your food in the microwave, this is a very easy, convenient way to do it. If you have your own microwave, you want to use this product and store it in the microwave so you never have to clean the actual microwave. If you use a communal microwave, you will definitely want to use it to protect your food from the scary crust inside the communal microwave.

Many people buy these for college. These grills can do a nice job for steak, chicken, and veggies, but I think they are a pain to clean. Think twice before buying one.

Nice sized dorm fridge. Just don't expect the little fridges to have freezers large enough or cold enough for ice-cream. If possible coordinate with your roommate, because you don't need two in one room. Many places let you rent these too.
