Paper Pilot
Excellent book. The airplanes are tough but if you stick to it, it's worth it. My son is 10 and he could not put it down!
Excellent model book for an adult
Similar to books published a few years ago by Andrew Dewar, this is a book for assembling flying paper airplane models. This book includes 24 different aircraft from WW2 to the present time. A section of the book is devoted to small histories of each airplane that is modeled, with the remainder being full color punch-out pages of airplane parts. Coloring of the airplane parts is excellent, but most of the airplane schemes are dull grays or blacks.
Assembly of the planes requires forming and folding flat paper into the various curved shapes that aircraft have. Pieces need to be glued together (be careful about using too much or the paper will probably warp). Instructions for each model are a very few (sometimes only one) blow-up diagrams of the general part arrangement, with no additional text. Individual parts have basic instructions shown near the punch-out such as 'fold 180 degrees', 'right wing', 'engines X8', or 'roll, for ballast'. If the builder is patient and careful, the models will fly. Note: I said 'patient and careful', meaning this book is not the best for children... it's best for adult plane buffs.
Real pilots love it.
Top notch information graphics. A lot of complex information about the airplanes is conveyed a clear, immediate and beautiful manner. My youngest brother got his flying license when he was 16-the youngest pilot in Canada. Now, at 20 he flys private jets in Indonesia. I sent the book to him and he enjoyed it.
