From AudioFile
Sheila Hart reads Moreta with a sensitivity and delicacy that reflect the magical, mythical quality of McCaffrey's dragon legends. Hart's characterization is subtle; vocal styles suggest, rather then impersonate, characters, and male voices are satisfying. It is not necessary to have read or heard other titles of the series to enjoy Moreta. Hart's sensitive portrayal will leave the listener grieving for the loss of the Weyr woman. D.L. From the Publisher
There are dragons all over Anne McCaffrey's house. Some she's bought, but many have been made for her by adoring fans and given to her as gifts. I don't make dragons, of course. But whenever circumstances allow, I do try to bring her American bacon, something she can't get easily in Ireland, and something which she has taught all her friends there to love, as well! I remember the first time I went to visit her, when she was still living in her old, much smaller but very homey, house. My husband and I arrived at the doorstep, and she immediately began bustling about, frying up some of the bacon we'd brought and sharing a lovely late breakfast with us before sending us off to the hotel for a nap. She made us dinner that night, too--the one and only time in my life that I've actually liked shrimp cocktail. Maybe that's because if you squint your eyes and look sideways, shrimp are kind of dragonlike, and I was eating them in the right company!

From the Inside Flap
The Bookcassette® format is a special recording technique developed as a means of condensing the full, unabridged audio text of a book to record it on fewer tapes. In order to listen to these tapes, you will need a cassette player with balance control to adjust left/right speaker output. Special adaptors to allow these tapes to be played on any cassette player are available through the publisher or some US retail electronics stores.
Customer Reviews
highly emotional
This is a great book in the dragon riders series. A highly emotional book. It leads you in one direction but takes you in another.
A true Pern Classic
This has always been among my favorite Pern stories. Its great having this in audio.
This book was really not that good.
I'm going to keep this short because this book doesn't warrent that much of my time. Nothing really happens in this book. I've read the prior Pern novels and they were good enough to enjoy for a light read. This book, yes, pertains to the history of Pern but does not add much to it. Nothing is really accomplished, except that this is a start of a different era of history. I kept waiting for something to happen that is notable but nothing really did. You get a few small tidbits of imformation about the origional colonists but not much. This book really makes me reconsider weither or not I will read anymore Pern books.
