Edition 1 - Soda Lovers Value Package
I don't think this combination is available via Amazon, but you can get it from the Soda Club web site. Anyway, it arrived today, less than a week after I ordered it. I was a bit surprised by the size of the thing, but when you see the size of the CO2 cartridge, you understand why it is so tall. It was well packaged with clear instructions. I swiftly rinsed and filled my four bottles with water and threw them in the fridge. A couple of hours later, when the water was cold, I made my first bottle of Lemon/Lime soda. It tasted great and I'm looking forward to trying more flavors. One tip: stay a bit below the fill line. I took my two bottles to the line a got a bit of splash back while filling (I may have held the button down too long).
Outstanding Homemade Refreshments
Upon receiving the Soda Club I put it through it's paces and worked up several beverages including diet cola's and fruit enhanced beverages. The set up was very simple and the directions gave clear and concise steps to set up the carbonizer.
The top features are self control of the water source. You decide what you start with, distilled, spring, bottled or tap water. Then you decide the carbonation level. Three presses produce normal normal levels of carbonation and above that is a taste preference. I myself go for four pumps for that added fizz. Just make sure you chill the water before you add carbonation.
As for the flavors; true they do not taste exactly like Coke or Pepsi, then again they are from a bottling facility and have exacting measures taken to ensure their unique flavor profile. Therefore Soda Club cannot legally duplicate the exact formulas hence the same flavors.
That being said, the flavors that I've tried, Cola, Diet Cola, Cran Raspberry, Lemon Lime, Fountain Mist, Diet Pink Grapefruit, Diet Orange and Energy drink have all been quite tasty on their own. My kids love the entire selection and love to be part of the process making the soda. My three year old daughter comes up to me every so often asking for a specific flavor and then even shakes the product to mix it for me when I make it. True the flavors are not the exact flavors in the market but they are really close and drinking them as stand alone flavors without comparison they are tasty refreshing and fun to make.
I can now make soda when I need it and I've not had to go out to buy soda or sparkling water since this machine arrived at my doorstep. The process is quite simple and the syrups are inexpensive and shelf stable. It's great for the environment and the finished product has less sugar than their name brand counter parts.
If you love soda and you love saving money, time and gas then the Soda Club is for you!
Great product
This is one of those products that works exactly the way it is supposed to. It makes perfect seltzer water every time and due to the large CO2 cannister it is very convenient and much more cost effective than an old fashioned seltzer bottle. It is well built (albeit mostly plastic) and looks nice on the kitchen counter. It is a bit tall so it won't fit under most cabinets though. The way you create the seltzer is very well thought out and you get excellent feedback (a loud pressure induced buzz) that means you are good to go.
I have to agree with other reviewers here that some of the flavoring syrups available from the Soda Club are a little weak in the taste department. One thing the company doesn't make particularly clear is that even their non-diet flavors use a lot of artificial sweeteners because of how bulky sugar is. (Regular soda has about a cup of sugar per liter). You can also purchase syrups and flavorings from other companies. They do make an unsweetened lemon-lime flavor that makes great European style seltzer.
My family is having a lot of fun making our own recipes using flavor extracts from the grocery store.
Five stars for a flawless, quality product, no dings for the flavorings because it's so much fun to make your own.
