Customer Reviews

confused about the reviews3
I have read the reviews and I am curious as to why they are just reviewing the recipes and not the actual product itself. It states in the description that you use your favorite donut recipe but the reviewers complianed about the recipes that came with the product, and one reviewer even says that she downloaded some other recipes from another site but then didnt say how the recipes worked with the product. If anyone else owns this product and has tried their favorite recipe using it I would appreciate a review on it so I can make an informed decision on whether or not to buy it. TIA

It's junk1
Recipes are garbage ! Way too thick to pour and adding milk just makes it stickier . An absolute waste of money ! Bought 2 for my daughters...had to go to eSalton and download their recipes (manual)for the maxim electric donut maker , so we could at least make use of the pans.

1 star is at least one star too many for this product1
I thought this could be kind of a fun product when I first saw it. At $20, I resisted buying it though. But then I found one at Target on clearance at $9.98. The box was trashed, but only one of the decorating tips was missing, so I bought it.
I tried out the Vanilla Donut recipe. I'm not a master cook by any means, but as I was assembling the ingredients I began to suspect that things were not going to turn out... (way too much flour, not enough liquid, too many eggs, too much baking powder, and way too much sugar)... 20 minutes later my suspicions were confirmed. I filled both trays; one for regular (hole) donuts and the other for jelly donuts. The "donuts" looked and smelled much more like cupcakes or muffins at best. They looked absolutely nothing like the donuts in the pictures on the package. Getting them out of the oiled "non-stick" pans was a struggle. I had to scrape them out with a spatula.
As far as filling the "jelly donuts," I didn't even try. It was obvious from the extremely dense texture of the donuts that attempting to inject jelly into them would have been an exercise in futility.
I thought maybe I'd try another recipe, but after looking over the others, I found typos and other obvious errors. It appears that the recipes may be for what is considered donuts in the foreign country where this product is manufactured... and something definitely got lost in the translation!
To say the very least: this is a very disappointing product. (And one that will be going back to Target in the morning!)
