Excellent overview of what KsE does
The concert is well recorded and well filmed. You can see how skilled they are as musicians - the guitars aren't just brutal, but they are intricate and interweaving. Howard is just an amazing vocalist with huge stage presence. The documentary is a huge bonus, not just talking about the development of the band, but also demonstrating their camaraderie and solidarity with other similar bands (many of which you may find yourself wanting to hear). A must for metalcore fans.
KSE continuing to "Set This World Ablaze"
While this DVD has been out for a long while now, I only recently became aware of it's existence. I have become a huge Killswitch Engage fan and promptly ordered it a few months ago. After no less than 3 views through the documentary and live show from Worcester, I have to say I'm very pleased with my purchase.
To those considering buying the DVD, the documentary alone is worth it. It shows a complete history of KSE, from the beginnings (Aftershock, Red Tide, Blood Has Been Shed, etc) to Jesse's departure, all the way to the recording of The End Of Heartache and beyond. Several bands and various members are interviewed, including Buz, Ken and Trevor from Unearth, Phil from All That Remains, Mark from Chimaira, Randy and Mark from Lamb of God, guys from God Forbid, Brian from Shadows Fall, a couple of the guys from Mastodon etc.
Once beyond the documentary, you get all of KSE's music videos, including My Last Serenade, the re-recording of Fixation On The Darkness with Howard, and Rose Of Sharyn.
Then comes the live show. Incredible performance is an understatement. Songs include about half the tracks from Alive Or Just Breathing (My Last, Self Revolution, Life To Lifeless) and most from End Of Heartache (title song, Fixation, Breathe Life, When Darkness Falls aka when Howard learned to ice skate).
Overall if you love KSE and you love live shows, you'll love this record. Worth every penny. Heck even if you don't know who KSE is and you want to get to know them, this is a great start.
Killswitch Engaged DVD
Great DVD and video footage. Has lots of the making of video how the band
and other bands made it that tour with them.
