Product Description

After 6 years of programming effort, the incredible Chaturanga software program with multimedia encyclopedia is now available! Chaturanga, played in India before the 7th century A.D., is the oldest known form of chess. Easier to learn than chess, there are only eight pieces to each player, and play has been simplified by having no artificial additives such as castling or complex en passant rules. Play develops quickly, much faster than common chess, and reversals of fortunes can occur suddenly. Forming alliances, a unique feature in Chaturanga, gives it a Machiavellian aspect missing from chess. This one-of-a-kind software program includes over 30 million playable variants (including different rules and setting options, Dice variant, Gambling & Pieces Ransoming variants, Rajah Capture option) with full instructions for play. An added bonus is the multimedia encyclopedia which includes edited text of Prof. Duncan Forbes classic book The History of Chess. Multi-player capable. The game software (from 1 to 4 players) on this CD-ROM is capable of play across a local computer network or remotely across computers over the internet. The single player version allows selection between computer opponents. Levels are selectable from beginner to expert/analysis, and settings are highly customizable. This program does not require hard drive space, and can be run from the CD-ROM. Chaturanga will run under Win 2000, ME, NT & XP. Requires a Pentium with 16MB RAM. The CD-ROM in contained in a clear DVD case, with elegant labeled artwork
