Different views of an Old World Santa decorate each piece in this dinnerware set for four. The dark starry sky and subdued tones of the background lend an air of mystery to the man in the white beard, while words such as "St. Nick" and "Noel" are lightly sketched in. A red-checked border wraps each piece in the aura of a cozy woolen blanket. Be sure to note this is round and not square set
This set is very nice, and bold in display, as mentioned. Santa's fur trim is 'raised-rough' texure on the dishes. They are folk-art type Santa on a black background with dark red-check rims. Tiny stars, and "Joy", "St Nick", Noel, "Ho Ho Ho" are respectively lightly sketched on each plate with four different Santa 'portraits'. I haven't used the set, as bought on sale after Xmas. Details portion mentions set having square dishes and bowls, and further on states round, but that "Sakura sells square set". This IS the ROUND set. I have the square set, and wanted to add settings, so was disappointed, but I'm keeping the set for additional place settings, until I can find more of the square. This set is on the heavy side, but not as heavy or large as the square set, should you ever find it.

Love these, they are Beautiful!
I just received my set and they are absolutely beautiful, I love them. They came in good condition, packaged well. I love the maroon and black color scheme with raised detail on Santa. The plates are heavy and generous portion. I'll use them for years, they are our newest Christmas tradition.

Round set
This is a round set, and although I own other Oneida (Sakura is Oneida) dinnerware, this set is just below average regarding the plate quality. There are small but noticeable holes in the dinner plates. On the other hand, the bowls and mugs are gorgeous. I do not mind, I got this on clearance and it's perfect for the holiday season. It comes bulk packaged in plain brown made in china boxes so it would not be gift appropriate unless you do not mind the lack of retail packaging. I have uploaded some images for those of you who would like to know what this set looks like. There are four different santa portaits in all, one on each bowl, mug, and plate.
