Family Business is a reality-style series about Adam Glasser and his alter-ego "Seymour Butts", his meddling but well-meaning mom, Lila, and his cantankerous cousin Stevie, all working in, yes, the family business . . . which just happens to be adult entertainment! The series follows Adam as he faces the same problems that many people encounter – running his own company, juggling a hectic schedule, and looking for the love of his life. *Contains adult content, graphic language, nudity, and strong sexual content.

The Best Showtime Series of All Time!
It would have been easy (and probably expected) for a reality series on the porn industry to showcase nothing but the most shocking. While there's plenty of nudity and a few on-set scenes that pushes the limits of even pay television, this series succeeds because it allows you to see that porn is a business (almost) like any other, and the people involved can be pretty normal. Everybody is extremely likable - Adam is the hip, badly dressed drinking buddy, his mother is the caregiver concerned about her son's lack of a significant other, and Cousin Steve is the cantankerous relative who you can't help but love despite his lack of tack. Even the porn actors and actresses that frequent each episode are not the stereotypical strung-out sluts willing to be degraded for a few bucks. Instead, they're seen as fun-loving women (and men)who love their job. I'm sure some of this viewpoint is intentional on Glasser's part, but this is easily one of the most enjoyable reality tv series I've ever seen...it certainly beats the Real World, Average Joe, and those wretched Bacherlor/Bachelorette cretins.
Everything you expect and more.
Most of us have already seen the show on TV, that's probably what's brought you here. Of course the box includes all 10 episodes on 3 discs. On the 3rd disc are additional features like deleted scenes and interviews with the cast. I was hoping for even more deleted scenes than were on the disc, but they weren't bad. There's a music video for the opening song as well. All of the episodes can be viewed with commentary by The Jay and Tony Show. You can also view the episodes in French and Spanish. I think this is an all around good buy. I hope this info helps answer a few questions you might have.
Sometimes people should stick to what they're good at.
Good things:
Boobs, Butts and Crotches
Candid, behind the scenes looks into the smut business
Occasional laughs
Cousin Stevie's relaxed attitude towards profanity
Irritating things:
The inclusion of Seymore's son Brady as a major part of his life. (He's a major part of the show's intro but not really a key player in the show itself.)
Almost every aspect seems a little forced.
The opening credits.
The music (devastatingly horrible).
The comedy stylings of the Bob and whatever Show.
Seymore's Mom
Endless self-plugging ("I'm one of the best in the industry blah blah blah")
Seymore's personality.
Very little about the actual family dynamic. (Brady's mom?, Other famly members? Friends? Anybody?)
The fact that only three people talk to the camera confessional-style.
To sum it up: The show that sounded too good to be true actually is.
I still have hope for next season. Some more attention to production and a decision on whether this is a reality show or a scripted sitcom would make vast improvements. Also the music really sucks.
