In this oversize picture book from France, family members deal with penguins that arrive at their home--one a day, for a full year. The high jinks begin on New Year's Day. As the penguin population increases, Dad, Mom, and the kids use multiplication and a few other schemes to organize, feed, and care for the increasing number of birds, but the scheme they hatch only meets with temporary success. At the end of the year, Uncle Victor, an ecologist, arrives; explains why he has sent the birds; and takes all but one of them, Chilly, away. The premise is goofy, but the math is fun, and the generous trim size, eleven by fourteen and one-half inches, allows plenty of room to show the growing penguin population. The illustrations, in orange, blue, and black, give a retro, almost surreal look to the art, which perfectly fits the story. This is a lively romp from the beginning to the end--when the first polar bear arrives. But that's another story. Randall Enos

365 Penguins
This is a typical "here's a cute book about penguins, but first we want to slam our agenda down your throat."

Nice story until they force their message across about the global warming, which is a total misconception.

I bought this for someone who loves penguins. We read it on Christmas morning and threw it away. Not even garage sale material.

Fun book
Clever plot and fun pictures make this a great kids book. It is a huge, oversized book that is great as a gift.

A big hit for the Penguin lover
I purchased this book for my 8 year old niece. She is in love with Penguins right now and is very into math. In a pile of dress up clothes, games, art supplies and toys - this is the gift that she sat down and absorbed from cover to cover. She even got another copy to donate to her classroom at school and all the other kids love it too! It came up as an also see recommendation when I searched Amazon for Penguin items looking for a birthday gift for her. Great find and a huge hit!
