Technically, this book deals with the plight of the working class poor, rather than workers who have been laid off. But often, laid off workers end up obtaining low paying jobs, i.e., they are forced from being middle class workers with good benefits into the ranks of the low-paid working class poor. Thus, this book provides a lot of anecdotes with which laid off workers can relate.
