Phrenology head
I've wanted one of these for years! I'm so happy to have one of my very own. It was a little bigger than expected, but is a nice addition to my bookshelf.
A nice reproduction of the old pseudoscience phrenology models
Phrenology got to be a huge business in the nineteenth century. Sculptures included the requisite bumps, "tone" for musicians, "piety" for religious figures, etc. It was a wide-spread belief that small lumps on the skull gave rise to personality characteristics. This was of course obviously absurd, and Mark Twain famously went to a phrenologist without using his own name. His "humor" bump was seen to be nonexistent. Returning with his own name, the "humor" bump was VERY pronounced.
This is a nice reproduction, perfect for a sort of odd history of science motif in your decorating.
