Clown ACT Omnibus3
A very nice collection of clown skits (over 200), for beginners, intermediate & advanced, both individuals and for groups.  Acts are classified by type, equipment needed, gymnastic skills, and practice required. I greatly appreciated this, since it allowed me to skip things either too difficult, or that I simply wasn't interested in. The book also includes instructions on the making of some basic props for clowning and magic acts as well. The book is divided into nine sections, and they cover: Clowning as an Art, Pantomime, Clown Types, Costumes, Make-up, Suggestions for Programming, Production Ideas, Properties and Stunts.

Having said that, bear in mind from the title that the book focuses on Clown Acts (& routines) -- it's not a book on how to clown, how to apply make-up, how to develop your clown character, etc -- for that, I'd recommend Creative Clowning and Strutter's Complete Guide to Clown Makeup, both available here at Amazon.com I rate this 3 clowns

Clown Act Omnibus : Everything You Need to Know About Clowni1
The front page of the book is exellent. It makes you believe that you have the right book in your hands. "Everything you need to know about clowning plus over 200 clown stunts" sounds professional. So, from the marketing point of view there is no mistake. Unfortunately the content of the book is absolutely unusable. I've been interested to read about acts suitable for single clowns, but no single one I could recommende to anyone. So, I'm really very dissapoitment with this book and unfortunately I have made the wrong investment bying it.

Not really what I was looking for2
I bought this book with the hope that it would give me truck loads of information on clowning/costume/makeup. As it turns out, it's really just a book of skits. It's not that they weren't funny, but it took alot of the fun out of it. Maybe I had too high of hopes for a clowning book, but I'll be returning this one.
