Mulling over a name for daughter Nell's new line of fig cookies, Paul Newman suddenly smiled and said, "Let's call them Fig Newmans." With Nell's recipe and Paul's inspiration, the first fig bar made with organic figs, organic sugar, organic flour, and without hydrogenated oils was created. Fig Newmans Low Fat variety is made with palm fruit oil, which has no trans fat and no cholesterol, and has less saturated fat than butter. All Fig Newmans are made with figs grown organically in California.

About the Brand
Newman's Own is a food company that was founded by Paul Newman in 1982. The company makes all-natural salad dressing, pasta sauce, salsa, lemonade and steak sauce.

Newman's Own Organics was founded in 1993 by Paul Newman's daughter, Nell Newman, as a division of Newman's Own. It became a separate company in late 2001. Their motto is "Great Tasting Food That Happens to Be Organic." Their products include organic pretzels, cookies, popcorn, chocolate bars, peppermint cups, peanut butter cups, olive oil and vinegar, dried fruit, fair trade coffee and pet food. Recently, Newman's Own Organics launched a line of fresh produce that includes organic lettuce mixes, baby spinach and carrots.

Fig Newmans
Fig Newtons are tasty enough, but I like the taste of Fig Newmans a little better. If you've tried a fig product before, you'll know they're odd, but uniquely tasty. I'm seldom in the mood for something figgy, honestly, but Fig Newmans have all the flavor of the original with less of a processed aftertaste. The figs are just a little fuller and sweeter in these. Try 'em; you might like them better, and since they're organic they're better for you as well. Ignore the "low fat" designation--it's a selling point, not something you'll likely notice in the taste, I sure didn't.

great tasting and healthy
My family has been eating Fig Newmans for years. Figs are great for you, but how do you get kids to eat them? The answer is Fig Newmans. Since they're organic, you can feel good that your little ones aren't ingesting pesticides along with the cookies. Two Fig Newmans will fill you up and keep you going. They're a great snack.

We have really enjoyed these fig bars. I wish they had a whole wheat option, also. Enjoy.
