Album Description
If one was to make a musical time capsule of 2007 a collection of sounds and lyrics reflecting the energy of our moment it might be a good idea to drop in a copy of METRO STATION’s eponymous debut record. Sure, the band is young (OK, still in fake ID territory), but Metro Station’s brazenly catchy dance hooks and yearning lyrics perfectly capture what it feels like to be a teenager in today’s culture. This is a band that was weaned on and made by the Internet, whose dedicated legion of online fans made them MySpace stars in a matter of weeks. This is a band that caught the early attention of ALTERNATIVE PRESS (earning a spot as one of the magazine’s 22 Best Underground Bands), along with URB and TEEN VOGUE magazines, months before they signed to a label. Metro Station is a band that, despite their youth, have made their way from greasy mall jobs to recording with Motion City Soundtrack in the same year. They are truly a product of their times and their generation, and they are ready to take advantage of it.

Old school mixed with new school techno!5
This is one of the best CDs that I own. They have a fresh sound that reminds me of old school electronica from my teens like Information Society yet with a modern twist. Yes, the lead singer is Miley Cyrus's brother but this is NOT teeny bopper stuff. Teens can relate to this music but bubblegum/Disney fodder it most definitely is not. It is modern, funky, danceable, and oh so sexy. I am 36 years old and get inspired by this music in a most profound way. I feel teens and adults can both connect to this fresh, exciting, and even transporting music. When I listen to it, I know I am definitely transported to a happier plane and my life seems better right away. Buy this and your mood will lift - guaranteed. Also the lead singer's vocals are very sexy, soulful, and right on point. I know you will enjoy this band as much as I do! Thanks to Open House Party where I first heard their music!

pure pop for now people 5
Among so many of today's bands that lack dynamics, determination and over all fun, the debut from L.A's Metro Station succeeds in every way.
Having seen the band live, I am pleased to report THIS IS WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE!
Got it? Good...i feel better too.

Speaking of sound, it is difficult to pinpoint the synth-pop/pop-rock/rock-rock-and more-rock label as "EMO" becomes a vague cliché the same way "Trip-Hop" did in the 90's. Just listen and make up a cool new category later.

A welcome surprise is how many songs feature elements from the band's original MySpace demos... no wonder they got the album out so soon (Hey look! Non-manufactured talent!).

Talent...and yeah two band members are "not of drinking age" to quote numerous bios but they are not kids either.

The album is paced very evenly (throw it on at your next party and see what happens) and by the closer "Disco", still feels fresh with adrenaline.

Without irony i will say Metro Station rock and ROCK much better than any of y'know, most of those guys who can drink an' stuff.

My new favorite CD!5
As a 29 year old, this is kind of embarrassing, but I LOVE this CD!! It is so much fun to listen to! It kind of reminds me of what the Cure would sound like if they were upbeat. I thought I might not "get" it or like it since I'm not a teenager and there are definitly lyrics about being a teen, but I still like it. If you like the "Shake, Shake" single, then get the album, it's all good!
