Seems like a good idea, but...2
The DUB-CR200 seems like a good idea. 8-in-1 card reader and two more (net) USB 2.0 ports all in one nicely styled unit. Great for your laptop, right? Okay, as long as you have some place to plug it in. It comes with and requires an external AC power adapter. Other card readers are happy to be powered by the USB port.

The first unit we bought managed to corrupt the file structure of a 1GB CompactFlash card, rendering it unreadable, in addition to being generally balky. The computer would sometimes not mount the card reader drives. Tech Support had us exchange it for another one. The new one does not work very well either. It can lock up Windows Explorer when you try to transfer files from a memory card, and has difficulty "ejecting" the card, a problem I have not had with other card readers. Sometimes it will not transfer the files at all. I have tried the device on several Windows XP computers with similar results.

Maybe you will not experience these problems, but I did, and consider the device too unreliable to entrust with irreplaceable digital files.

Ended up a Disappointment1
Purchased looking to extend USB 2.0 ports and also get memory card reading hardware. It worked great on my machine for about a month, then I started having problems with it. Windows would not recognize it and I had to play around with plugging it into other ports hoping Windows would recognize it again. I stopped using it.

Later I ended up getting a new PC. So I thought I would try it again. It worked great for about a month, then it caused my PC to hang on boot up when the BIOS was initializing the USB controllers. If I rebooted with it disconnected, then it would start fine. When I attached it running Windows, it was again unrecognized.

Strongly suggest finding a better memory card reader. This one is not worth the money.
