Customer Reviews
This stuff is great
This has no preservatives or chemicals ... just saline with a PH buffer.
I'm very paranoid about my eyes (I've been wearing extended wear contacts for more than 20 years), and want nothing extra in them.
It's been impossible to find the B&O and Lens Plus versions of this in my local stores for quite a while. But you can order it directly from Blairex ($3 per 12 fl-oz cans, min 6, +$5 shipping).
I only use very small quantities to just rinse my contacts, so the normal bottles expire (due to contamination risk) 2 months after opening. Since this is a pressurized can, you don't have to worry about that... one can lasts about 6 months for me.
Long time saline user, this is my first review, ever!
I have worn soft contacts, now for 22 years. The aerosol saline is the only kind of saline that does not irritate my eyes. Even the kinds that say they are for sensitive eyes leave my eyes itchy and feeling dry during the day.
I called the Blairex company, and they said that they have been making the aerosol saline for 30 years, and that when they raised their prices, Wal Mart stopped buying the product. The higher price, therefore is a combination of an average price increase compounded by the fact that Wal Mart no longer buys large quantities at a great discount. I complained about the increase per bottle of approximately $7.00 per bottle on Amazon.com. (plus shipping!!!)
For whatever reason, they have now lowered their price to $4.89/bottle which is still $2.60 above the original price at Wal Mart of $2.30 (including tax.)
If you order 1 bottle, the shipping is $7.34, making it over $12.00 per bottle...not worth it! However, if you order 4 bottles, you pay about $2.75 per bottle in shipping, bringing your total up to approx. $7.65 per bottle. I wish they would offer it through Amazon Prime, but in the end, the opti-free recommended cleaning/storage solution (which I use just to store them at night)costs about as much.
I can make the aerosol saline last for a very long time by only using it to rinse off the cleaning solution just before putting the contacts into my eyes. I have to say it is worth it for the comfort it brings to my eyes!
Essential for people with arthritis
I have rheumatoid arthritis, so squeezing the bottles of saline currently available in stores is very painful for me. I wish stores would take this into consideration and stock the cans, but in the meantime, I'm very glad that I can order them on line. Also, the store salines have preservatives that make lenses uncomfortable. This product does not do that. Please do not discontinue this wonderful product!
