Customer Reviews

Made in China - poorly3
I don't share the other reviewer's favorable opinion of this unit.

I was suckered into buying by the advertising that it was "contractor grade". This unit wouldn't stand up to a contractor passing wind.

There are positive aspects of the manufacture and design of this unit. It is lightweight (made of flimsy materials); the safety glass over the bulbs is UV filtered and sturdy; it is an attractive looking unit, and, the case makes it emminently portable. In addition, they packed three bulbs with the unit, meaning that you have a spare.

The negatives are: (1) the tripod is almost useless for a worktable, working on the car, or anything elevated more than three feet. For instance, you can't use the tripod to set it for working on the car. It won't even reach the top of the fender of my Range Rover. (2) The cages are about 1/4th as strong as cheap coat hangers. (3) The unit rattles on the tripod and is very, very unstable. (4) God help you if you burn out a bulb in bad weather - you must undo two tiny, tiny phillips screws - God help you if you drop the screws - if you drop them in the mud, snow, sleet, or, between the tiny gaps of flooring or decking, you're "screwed."

The handle on one of the lamp housings (made of cheap, cheap, styrene plastic) was broken on arrival (and it had been packaged in the box with surrounding packing material).

Overall, this unit looks good in the picture - in real life, it is a dandified version of a halogen work light that would not stand up to any demanding applications.

The work lights are just what I needed, I'm building a large closet in my basement and once the walls were up it was very dark inside until the finishing and electric was in. The lights provided all the light I needed to complete the work. Great lights
