GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRICE
I bought this rider at the Military Exchange for $999.99. So I guess I got a good deal. So far it has not disappointed me. I would put this rider on par with a Craftsman or Toro.
Good inexpensive machine.
Just bought one of these on sale for $890. A far better machine than the 12HP 38" Murray I was using. The rear axle has better traction, it cuts through thick, wet grass (more like weeds)at a much higher speed and without bogging down...and does a nicer job too. It is equipped with an emergency brake and a setting on the ignition switch for cutting in reverse so you don't have to bypass the safety switches. No hydrostat, but that's one thing less to go wrong. It even rides better. The hood is connected to the frame with metal brackets unlike the Murray which used plastic...hit one thing & the plastic breaks & leaves the nose & hood hanging down.
Besides my yard I also have two lots that I mow. The fastest I've ever mowed the lots was 1 hr when there was light growth, over 2 hrs when the grass was getting away from me. Just mowed them in 50 min with a heavy growth & wet to boot. 4 stars because it doesn't come with rear wheels on the deck, but $45 to Ebay for a new kit fixed the problem. You may as figure on the wheel kit unless your yard is perfectly level, otherwise it is a real scalper. With the wheels you can mow some pretty rough territory, such as my lots.
Another bonus is the deck has an enlarged discharge chute which pretty much eliminates it getting clogged. For 1K (including the wheel kit & tax) it cuts my work in half without beating me to death like my old mower. Considering how much I hate lawn mowers, I find this a grand well spent. BTW, look for a mower deck wheel kit for a Craftsman, as Craftsman as well as others are pretty much the same.
