Born in Elizabethan England, he became a convinced occultist while traveling on the Continent. His voluminous writings were devoted to defending the philosophy of the alchemists and Rosicrucians and applying their doctrines to a vast description of man and the universe. All of Fludd's important plates are collected here for the first time, annotated and explained together with an introduction to his life and thought.

A good introduction to Robert Fludd.
Joscelyn Godwin has produced a perfect introduction to the hermetic philosophy of Robert Fludd. The book reproduces 124 illustrations from Fludd's encyclopedic volumes, which range from medical, alchemical, musical, cabbalistic, cosmological and astrological topics. Godwin provides a short commentary on each plate and an account of Fludd's life in the introduction. A must have for anyone interested in the history of the Western esoteric tradition.

Magnifical pictures and plates.
A beautful book, maybe the most wonderful Godwin's work. The plates and pictures just are comparable with a Manly Hall's "magnus opus", "The Secret Things of All Ages". Good spend of money.

Surveyor of 2 Worlds
Robert Fludd is a link in the chain of Christian esotericism which includes figures as disparate as Origen, Hildegard, Eckhart, Ficino, Boehme, Emerson and Steiner; and he seems to have received his arcane knowledge not only from other writers but from the same source as all true theosophists before and since. Such people are often at variance with the established Churches, to whose authority they offer the challenge of a personal revelation. Cutting through the crystallizations of dogma, they approach the spiritual world directly, returning with a new vision of its inexhaustible riches. It was Fludd's virtue that he could present his vital teachings unmarred by his own psychology, and thus his work has always been prized as an inspired vehicle for universal truth.
