My Dad is a Freemason is the first book ever written for children about Freemasonry. Narrated through the words of a young boy who details his father's Masonic experience, the son explains what a Freemason is, what ritual initiations and lodge meetings are like, and what activities Freemasons are involved in. The simple text of the main narrative is geared towards readers ages eight and up and is accompanied by original photographic illustrations depicting activities in a typical Masonic lodge. A historical subtext parallels the central story with anecdotes about famous Masons and is richly illustrated with images of Masonic artwork and ritual paraphernalia. The historical text is aimed at slightly more advanced readers and provides vocabulary-building skills linked to a Masonic glossary at the end of the book. The book also includes a "Personal Masonic History" form, providing a genealogical research activity for kids. Written by an active Freemason.

Editorial Reviews
Review
The idea behind this book is great. It is written for the children of Masons, to explain something about the fraternity. There is a real need for that, and it is a powerful idea. Brother Vang has done a good job with both the text and photos in the book. -- Jim Tresner, The Scottish Rite Journal, Nov/Dec 2006

… many of you have tried to find concise explanations of Freemasonry suitable for our Daughters to refer to when they are answering questions about Job's Daughters and our Masonic relationship. … here comes Richard Vang with an informative, easy-to-read, explanation of Freemasonry in book form for the whole family to enjoy, discuss, and share with friends. I liked the extensive number of photographs, the concise explanations, and the author's style. --Tomilynn W. McManus, Job's Daughters Supreme News Exchange Online (IOJD.com)
… this book beautifully illustrates and explains our rich heritage. At 32 pages it is just the right amount of information… Everything from history, symbols, appendant bodies and famous Masons are covered ... --Corey Sigler, editor, The Working Tools Magazine
