![]() | Mulholland Drive
Buy new: $9.99 / Used from: $4.51 Amazingly layered movie up to many different interpretations. David Lynch can turn out pure art at times. Believable tension between Naomi Watts and Laura Elena Harring

![]() | BOUND (UNRATED) / (WS) - BOUND (UNRATED) / (WS)
Buy used from: $18.45 The Wachowski Brothers before The Matrix. I'd argue their work is far greater on this smaller scale. Fantastic technical visuals and a story not based around either character being a lesbian--huge plus. A "must see" movie.

![]() | Imagine Me & You
Buy new: $7.49 / Used from: $6.47 Very cute and sweet rom com with Lena Headey and her delicious British accent. Better story than a lot of other lesbian-interest movies as of late.
|
![]() | Maedchen In Uniform
Buy used from: $10.05 It's a tragedy this movie has not made it to DVD yet--but it's worth the watch on video. The story is excellent and the humor still resonates with a modern audience. This is the basis for the much inferior recent release "Loving Annabelle" which does not hold a candle to this brilliant film.
|
![]() | Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden
Buy new: $8.00 / Used from: $3.00 It's a little dated, but for the most part it holds up. Again, a sweet story and one of the few titles I've seen aimed at the young adult audience.
|
![]() | Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Buy used from: $14.50 Lesbians in the Star Wars universe? Absolutely! Playing as a female character in this exciting role playing game, you'll have the potential for heavy flirtations with two characters, one of which is an implied lesbian. But this game is also incredibly rich in detail and character development that it should be on any gamer's "must play" list.
|
![]() | Treading Water
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $10.00 Definitely not the best in terms of character development or acting, but this film still manages to be quite good and tells an interesting story. The relationship between the leads is believable and overall the film works well.

![]() | The Handmaid's Tale (Contemporary Classics) by Margaret Atwood
Buy used from: $6.94 This book was recommended to me in college by my professor and I have not stopped thinking about it or recommending it to everyone since. It's frightening and still quite relevant today. This isn't a lesbian-themed book, but it's absolutely a title that must be read by any feminist.
|
![]() | Kissing Jessica Stein
Buy new: $7.49 / Used from: $2.74 I think of this as the lesbian version of "Annie Hall". This flick can be a little pretentious at times, but it's also hilarious so the former could be forgiven.
|
![]() | D.E.B.S. (Special Edition)
Buy new: $7.99 / Used from: $2.49 More stupid but fun. You must be in the right mood to watch it, but it's sure as hell enjoyable. Not sure if the short the film was sprung from is included on the DVD or not, if not seek that out as well.
|
![]() | But I'm a Cheerleader
Buy new: $8.49 / Used from: $8.14 I love social satires. Very well-written, smart, and hilarious. Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall are terrific here, as they are in nearly everything else, and other than a slightly disproportionately sappy ending, this film does not disappoint.
|
![]() | Xena Warrior Princess - Complete Series (Seasons 1-6)
Buy used from: $179.99 Can't have this list without Xena. Over the 6 seasons it varied in terms of quality story lines, but all of that can be overlooked in retrospect. It was a ground-breaking show in its day, its lesbian sub/maintext was purely titillating, and nothing similar has come around since.
|
![]() | Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Collector's Set (40 discs)
Buy new: $186.99 / Used from: $199.98 Much like Xena, there were definite ebbs (season 7) and flows (seasons 1-4) but Buffy remained a smart and edgy show.
|
![]() | Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe: A Novel by Fannie Flagg
Buy new: $12.24 / Used from: $10.58 The film was great--but the novel is better. The implied romantic relationship between Idgie and Ruth is more fleshed out and their lives together seem much more meaningful.
|
![]() | Notes on a Scandal
Buy new: $10.99 / Used from: $1.77 And now the opposite--a case where the film outshines the novel. After reading "What Was She Thinking?..." and seeing how little there really was for Cate Blanchett to work with, I appreciated the film even more--especially its final act. However it's Judi Dench who brings this film to life. It's sick, twisted, and I identified with every second of it.
|
![]() | Aimee and Jaguar
Buy new: $26.99 / Used from: $17.38 A story about two women in love during World War 2, so you pretty much know from the offset how it's going to end. However before getting there, this film is a lush and very sweet story.
|
![]() | High Art
Buy new: $11.99 / Used from: $6.99 This film marks the return of the talented and gorgeous Ally Sheedy to mainstream cinema. Terrific and intense story.
|
![]() | When Night Is Falling
Buy new: $14.99 / Used from: $12.87 This film blew me away! I wasn't expecting much going into it, but once the story really took off, I was hooked! Excellent chemistry between the two leads and some very steamy love scenes.
|
![]() | Unveiled
Buy new: $21.99 / Used from: $9.90 I caught this on LOGO on night and have been meaning to track down the uncensored version. It's a tragic but hopeful story. There are so many images and scenes from this film that stick with you long after.
|
![]() | Mass Effect
Buy new: $46.99 / Used from: $21.99 Another artful role playing game (same makers of Knights of the Old Republic) where you may play as a female or male lead character--so refreshing. If you play as a female, you have the opportunity for love (and a love scene) with another (alien) female character.
