John Deere Fruit Snacks
Yummy. Both my 5yo daughter and my 2yo son enjoy this snacks. I even sneak one occasionally. They are soft and they don't stick to your teeth as much as other fruit snacks do. Just watch the price, around $1.50 a box is a good price.

Cute as heck, but not much flavor - or fruit
Let's be honest with ourselves, people - children's fruit snacks have escaped intense critical scrutiny for FAR TOO LONG.

Seriously, though, if you go by appearance alone, these are the most charming lunchbox edibles on the market. The mold from which they were cast was razor-sharp - you can even make out the ribs on the silo and the treads on the tires. The shapes are cute and fun, and the color is primary-school bright - barn-red farmhouses, orange shining suns, grass-green tractors. I also enjoy the happy, natural farm motif over the usual Licensed Character (TM) kids' food antics. (Yes, they're endorsed by John Deere, but that's a bit less hazardous; there's small danger of little Billy throwing a tantrum because he now just HAS to have the new Gator CX 4x2.)

Unfortunately, though, the kid also has to *eat* them, and that's where the snacks fall flat. Look at the ingredients: the first (and most plentiful) is corn syrup, then sugar. The only fruit included is some apple puree. I don't expect gelatin fruit snacks to be health food, but we should be feeding our kids more than sugar dumps. Also - perhaps thanks to the lack of fruit juice - these snacks just don't have much taste; they're vaguely sweet, and nothing more.

Plus, while I admire the intensity of the color on the snacks, I balk at the amount of dye that must've been used to achieve the effect. Get the Welch's fruit snacks instead, which have distinctive fruit flavors and (not much, but) some actual nutritional value.
