Fun game but basically the same as the other Hullaballoo
We love the first Hullabaloo game so we ran out & bought this when my son received some birthday money to spend. I knew it would be similar but I didn't realize that they are basically the same game but this one uses the DVD. It is still great fun but if you already own the other one, don't bother buying this one. I much prefer the older version anyways because it is portable, you can take it outside or basically anywhere easily.
I was very disappointed in the animal part of this game. We love animals & I really thought there would be some educational moments during the game but basically they just show very quick movies of a few animals. Nothing educational & really just distracting from the basic game.
I would not recommend this game but rather the earlier version, the DVD is just a glorified version for more money.
My kids love this toy!
We bought the Hullabaloo DVD Game for my 6 and 3 year old children. They have been playing it everyday for a whole week! My friend has an older version (not the DVD) and they like to play it but sometime can't hear it very clear. This one plays the game through your TV and DVD player. It is highly visual, fun and includes many more game options. It will be very good for autistic children to listen to a command and do things (the visual part will be very helpful). I give it a 5 star plus!
thanks.
I like the original better, too.
I bought the original when my kids were 5 and 3, and it was a good game for them to play together for a change. The DVD game has the same concept, but is more visual; when the announcer announces the pad, the possibilities show up on the screen. All the pads are animals (no food, musical instruments, as in the original), but there is minimal animal education. Kids might learn which animals are farm animals, which are ocean animals, etc. I think there is less variation in this game than the original; after a few days play and repeat games, I can figure out (but not my kids)which pad will be the winning one. One of the best features of the original, is that it made my kids listen to the instructions. Listening skills can be replaced by visual cues in the DVD version.
