Fun until you try to clean up
These squeezable paints are fun to use, and the 3D effect makes lovely fluffy clouds, but I take issue with the "washable" claim. I don't know what the product's testers tried washing it off, or what they tried to wash it off with, but it certainly wasn't hands and soap. Which is a bit of a problem, given that kids' hands get covered with paint when they use it, and soap is what most of us use to wash kids' hands. Every other washable art product can be washed off skin with soap and water, but not this stuff. It sticks to hands like extremely skicky gooey rubbery gloves, and resists soap, Goo-Gone, mineral oil and turpentine. I had some success using duct tape to pull it off (in the manner of those adhesive pet hair removal rollers) but it took ages and didn't get it all.
I'm pretty sure Crayola know about this because the packaging has a tiny little warning on it saying "not for use on skin". Unfortunately it doesn't say why, nor offer any remedies. I figured it was just boilerplate. I certainly didn't take it to mean "wear industrial-strength protective gloves when using this stuff because if you get it on your skin you'll have to wait for your skin cells to die and slough off before you'll be rid of it. And wear a helmet too, because if it gets in your hair the only option is an emergency haircut."
Personally, I don't think the fluffy little clouds are worth it.
