Product Description

ImageMate is an external flash card reader that connects to your computer. It provides the ability to write data to and read data from flash memory without connecting your digital device (digital camera, handheld computer, digital music player, etc.) directly to a computer. SanDisk's ImageMate is the fastest way to transfer pictures, music, data and more to and from your computer. For more format options than a single card reader, the 5-in-1 reader easily transfers files to and from multiple memory card formats.

Customer Reviews

Works great: And, at under $20 the Sandisk SDDR-99 ImageMate 5-in-1 Reader/Writer is a bargain.5
For basic file transfers, you simply insert your card into the device, plug the device into your computer's USB port, then press the device's transfer button. But here's an ALTERNATE transfer method that offers more flexibility: Stick your memory card in the slot, plug the device into your USB port, click the "My Computer" icon on your Windows screen, and suddenly the icon appears for "your card" where you can now drag and drop files onto the card, to and from your hard drive.

I use the device for quickly transferring my mp3 files onto my SD card: I then insert the card in my Palm Tungsten E2 PDA for playing my music on the go.

Unit works great, software hogs resources4
The unit itself works great. Much faster transfers than using the usb cable directly to my camera. However, the software includes a "monitoring" feature, which checks every second or so, to see if you've plugged in a card. I opened up Windows Task Manager to discover that, each time it checked, it was consuming 25% of system resources (on/off each second). No wonder my computer has been slower lately, especially if I have my image editing software open (duh).

My recommendation would be to skip the San Disk software and access the card reader directly from My Computer, as mentioned in another review below.

So Easy and Convenient!5
Forget those expensive loading docks! This little 2" X 3" transmitter simply plugs into the front or back of your computer with an adapter cord and with 2 minutes of time for the CD progam upload, you are all set! Just place your memory card in the slot and off you go with easy instructions! Don't use up your camera batteries when you can drop $10-$15 bucks for this great little item! The CD-ROM comes with cool extras - so SAVE your batteries!
