The unsung heroes that work diligently to save lives every day are the heroes and heroines of this masterfully crafted murder mystery. EMT's, medical examiners and the coroner's office often work together to solve homicides and other crimes. Their work often goes unnoticed by the public. But, in this masterfully crafted and written novel, their story is finally told.

Emergency Medical Technicians are trained to handle most medical emergencies that they encounter. Their presence is often needed not only at accident scenes but crime scenes too. Their presence makes a crucial and critical difference to an injured victim. All too often these first responders, paramedics and police officers are not prepared for what they might find in some of the situations they encounter.

The opening chapter introduces the reader to three vital and major characters who lives drastically change at the gruesome and horrific scene they are forced to assess in the opening scene of the book.

Two young women are senselessly mutilated, staked to a dirt floor and one burned beyond recognition by a sick and demented killer who makes Jack the Ripper pale by comparison. Sexually violating both victims the reader soon learns that this killer is beyond redemption and is out for more victims.

At the scene is Andrew Larkin who claims he was kidnapped by the killer and forced to do things to one of the victims by a man he calls John. But, was he?

Julie Jennings and her partner Matt both Paramedics called to the scene and valiantly try to save the life of one of the victims.

Commander Jake Carlson of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, whose unit deals with crime scenes, homicides and arson immediately, takes control of the investigation.

Julie a paramedic who gives the job 100 percent and more and Jake who lives and breathes his job, meet at this horrific scene and sparks begin to fly and their lives become intertwined.

This gruesome crime scene not only brings them together, but also forces any relationship between them to be put on hold. Struggling to focus on the job at hand and definitely attracted to Julie, they do not realize she has also caught the eye of the killer who is out to make her own and teach her lessons that she would never forget.

Throughout the novel tension is high and tempers flare when circumstances occur that not only destroy Julie and Jake's faith in each other but the foundation of their being too.

With a nasty divorce behind him and a teenage son crying out for help, Julie and Jake have to keep it together to find this killer before he strikes again.

Throughout the novel the author brilliantly describes in detail the process used by a coroner's office and medical examiner to find clues to help solve murders. Her understanding of police work and description of the process used by the police to assess and process evidence from a crime scene help the reader understand how difficulties in working in law enforcement.

Jake a Julie form an instant bond only to be torn apart by this sick and maniacal killer on more than one occasion. Leaving clues along the way, the killer warns both Jake and Julie that he is watching their every move and will continue to invade their privacy.

The suspense is electrifying and the impending disaster keeps the reader on edge until the last page. Matt and Jake both vie for Julie's loyalty and trust wanting the other out of the way. Not until Julie becomes a victim of this killer do they ban together to stop him before it is too late.

Just who the killer really is and what reasons does he have for killing these innocent women and trying to make Julie his, this reviewer will not reveal. You need to read this Five Star novel by Chelle Cordero to find the answers to reasons behind the killer's actions. Just what other secrets did Jake and Julie have in their past? Does she get saved and more will only be answered when you read the Final Sin.
