desert island
'clocks' is a shining example of a perfectly crafted and melodically flawless song. if i'm ever forced to live out my days on a desert island and i can only have 2 songs to listen to - 'clocks' and 'speed of sound' are it !!! if you want to give me a 3rd - it would be 'bittersweet symphony' by the verve.
"And nothing else compares . . . "
Coldplay have had a great stream of hits since their debut. Their recent album "Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends" (and their new EP "Prospekt's March") is a partial departure from their sonic signature, attracting old fans, new fans, and skeptics alike.
But "Clocks" will forever be their signature song. The all-too-recognizable piano riff, powerful synths, pulsating bass, consistent drums, well-placed guitars, moving lyrics, fast pacing, and Chris Martin's signature falsetto, blend together to make one unforgettable song. It's been five years since I first heard "Clocks," and it is still my favorite song of all time. It represents both the good and bad times I've encountered in my lifetime.
Keeping Time
Coldplay's "Clocks" is an electrifying, innovative rock song. Chris Martin breaks from the usual rock conventions. It has awesome hooks that draw you in. "Clocks" is a great use of time!
