After a lifetime of can opener headaches, we finally found this godsend. For over a year now, once around opens the can every time -- and without dangerous edges!

Product Description

This deceptively simple tool puts its streamlined design to effective use. The opener basically pulls apart the seam that connects can side from can wall. Easy to operate and small enough to tuck neatly into a drawer. Or, thanks to the loop handle, you can hang it on a Rosle rail.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
One of Rösle's superb kitchen tools, this 8-inch can opener is brilliantly designed to provide safety and hygiene. Instead of cutting down through a lid, as conventional openers do, it smoothly cuts along the side of a can's rim. That means it doesn't leave behind a hazardous sharp edge and the lid can't fall into the can. It also means the opener never touches the can's contents. Like all Rösle tools, utensils, and Open Kitchen storage components, the opener is made primarily of 18/10 stainless steel, although this tool has a rugged plastic head. The round handle is stainless steel with a satin finish to conceal finger marks. The handle is sealed against water and has a hanging ring so the opener can be conveniently stored on a hook in the Open Kitchen system of Rösle basic rails and Gridwalls or hung on any hook or peg. The opener is sturdy, balanced, and exceptionally comfortable in the hand. All Rösle products are made in Germany and carry a lifetime warranty against defects. The can opener should be hand washed to protect its cutting wheel. --Fred Brack

HOW'S THIS FOR AN OPENER? GREAT!5
While most hand can openers are considered as outdated as a wood stove, here's one that puts many electric models to shame.

Crafted in Germany with stainless steel this opener is sleekly designed. Appearance isn't its only asset - it really functions. You simply hold the handle with your left hand and position the support (a steel half moon) parallel to the top of the can edge. Give the handle a slight twist backward, and presto your can is at the cutting wheel's mercy. Then move the handle forward until the can is open. One more slight twist backward and the grip is released.

I can well remember the dark ages when I struggled with hand openers, unable to insert the cutter into the can, straining to turn the handle, and then seeing the lid plop into the can's contents.

On a good day I didn't cut my hand on the lid's jagged edge.

No more, this is a never-fail, smooth operation. Rosle has produced a pleasingly designed, easy to operate can opener that works with surgical precision.

Great at first..then broke2
I come from modest means. Regardless of the fact that I've worked in the food and beverage industry for the past 18 years, if my grandma or mom knew I spent $28 on a can opener...they would think I lost my mind. I was thinking the same thing walking out of "The Restaurant Store" in Key West, but I easily quelled my guilt by telling myself "you'll never have to buy another can opener again". Not true. It stripped out after approximately 10 months of use (and it's not like I open cans every day).

Aside from it breaking, I'd like to point out another thing. At parties, and while it still worked, I'd pull out this opener, and play a game to see who could make it work. One such evening, it stumped 14 guests in a row. Not stupid people mind you. Even once you do figure it out, it could be challenging...it would still confuse me from time to time.

I like the brand, but for this money, it should last a lifetime...at least longer than the shelf life of the cans it's supposed to open. My favorite store refunded my money no questions asked, and sent it back to the factory.

I don't recommend. Check out the Kuhn Rikon can opener, I really like mine...and it was $3 cheaper.

Easy and Fun5
All can openers I had before worked good when they were new and were hard to use after couple of months. Other frustrating things were lid falling down in the can and hazardous sharp edges. Not to mention quality of Stainless steel from China used by many manufactures.

Finally I decided what my priorities for can opener are: 1: Lifetime warranty, 2: German quality. This one has it all and more! It may look little a bit pricey for a can opener, but considering how much money I have already spent on all those old can openers that finished in trash, I was ready to pay for a good thing (and it has Lifetime warranty).

I have this one for couple of months now. It works like magic. Firs time I could not believe it can be so easy to open the can. It cuts along the side of a can's rim and lid can't fall into can. Cut is nice and clean with no sharp edges. Opener does not touch the can's contents and it stays clean. It is a real joy opening cans with this fantastic tool.

There are not enough stars for it!
