I've read this many times now and I love it more and more. Though nothing compares to the first time you meet each of these characters. You don't know what to expect and the surprises aren't few. A great piece of storytelling.

A "children' book" but with a story about love and selflessness that everyone should read. Great illustrations also.

I still remember the first time I read this. I was carrying it around with me and was approached twice by strangers complimenting the book. I can't remember another time that has happened, and I always carry a book with me. Great fantasy and rooting-for-the-underdog. Be sure to read all the sequels!

My favorite by Steinbeck. Follows the course of two families through the early 1900s in California. I've always loved the James Dean movie, but that only covers the last part of the book.

A story about a young man who wants to escape his family and his hometown. This story has a "realness" to it that at times brings anger, pity and understanding.

No comic book/graphic novel has ever impacted me like Bone. Jeff Smith has written and illustrated a wonderful story. The Bone cousins, dragons, cute woodland animals, rat creatures, cow races, ted the bug, the lord of the locusts, dreams and a nearly-forgotten past. All of these come together in an incredible story.
