God, Man and the Evil in Between
Reverend Gabriel Hunter (Matthew Macfadyen – Pride & Prejudice) is shocked when he returns home to Middletown to find the townspeople involved in cockfighting, brawling, gambling and all manner of vice. Determined to save their souls, Gabriel comes down hard on the villagers, scolding them from the pulpit and demanding that they change their sinful ways. Not expecting the resentful rebellion he faces from his own brother Jim (Daniel Mays – Atonement), Gabriel’s religious zeal grows ever more extreme in this dark and explosive thriller.

Customer Reviews
Dark and Brooding
If you love Mathew MacFayden and you want to see him so something different, rent this video. It's very dark and rather scary. Not a monsters and ghosts kind of scary, but a human behavior scary. I would give it 5 stars, but I didn't think the characters were given enough time to develop.
D-U-L-L. Dull.
I hate to have to write this because I am a huge fan of Matthew Macfadyen's work -- but this movie was D-U-L-L. Dull. It was heavy and dragged. And preached. And the colors were dreary. And not a happy ending in sight. The acting was extremely believable but I think this film was just not my cup of tea. Too heavy. Sorry Matthew.

Horrible movie. I bought it because I love Matthew Macfayden but I found it to be dissappointing and boring. It was offensive in some parts. The story was really weak. Gave the movie away.
