Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the river bank, and of having nothing to do...when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran by her. Alice did not think it so very strange to hear the Rabbit say to itself, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" But when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat pocket and then hurried on, she started to wonder! Running after the strange fellow, she was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole. Down jumped Alice after it (never considering how in the world she was to get out again) and she tumbled into a curious world inhabited by the Mad Hatter, the Ugly Duchess, the Mock Turtle, the Cheshire Cat, and more…
With his marvelous sense of the absurd, Lewis Carroll’s whimsical, fantastical tale delighted children and adults when it was first published in 1865 and has since become a treasured classic of literature.

About the Author
Lewis Carroll is the pseudonym of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832-1898). He wrote Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for the amusement of eleven-year-old Alice Liddell and her two sisters, who were the daughters of the dean of Christ Church College, Oxford, where Dodgson taught mathematics. The book was published in 1865, and its first companion volume, Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, followed in 1871.

Forget the cartoon version! Dale's expert handling of the characters in Carroll's classic banishes any preconceived voice characterizations from the listener's mind. The old favorites are all here: Alice, the Queen, the Caterpillar, and so on. However, there's more to it than just those few. Carroll's absurd landscape is populated with equally absurd characters, many of them with only a line or two. Dale takes these bit parts and gives them true personalities that might have been ignored in other productions. Moreover, Dale's approach to the story narration bears the kindly, slightly amused tone that one imagines Carroll himself had as he penned his much-loved tale. In a Disneyfied world, one forgets how quirky and delightfully peculiar this story really isbut now Jim Dale has brought us back to Wonderland. A.A. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine

Highly recommended as a giftbook to listeners of all ages, as well as for public library audiobook collections. 3 CDs, 2 hours 57 minutes.
Riveting Story, Jim Dale Is Fantastic
Alice and Wonderland was one of my favorite stories when I was a kid. Although Disney had done the productions for the story album, the original is just wonderful. Jim Dale is fantastic. I laughed my head off a couple of times. His approach to the story put me in tuned with the characters that it made the storyline even more enjoyable.
Audiobook version review. A+ !
Audiobook fans might recognize Jim Dale as the narrator of Harry Potter series. He has won two Grammy Awards and seven Audie Awards, and lives up to his reputation in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Dale brings to life this timeless story, giving the iconic book all the justice it deserves. Non only is his English accent comforting and accessible to American ears, he speaks with an ageless authority that instills both comfort and wonder. I can't imagine a better performance! There is something straightforward and comforting about the simple surrealism of Alice.
Listeners of any age will revel in Lewis Caroll's book that defined the genre of children's science fiction. Forget the Disney knock offs - Caroll's original words are as entertaining as they were when first written, and his magical realism still delights beyond the wildest dreams of the most talented modern day writers.
