Product Description

Take one candy machine, one nutty inventor, one handyman, and one rubber duck. Mix well with chocolate and -- Ohhhhhhh, Ducky! -- you have one delicious adventure. When a rubber duck gets stuck in the chocolate-making machine, Mr. Peters dons his diving suit to investigate the pipes and swims through chocolate sharks, ships and sea chests to save the day. Children -- and grown-ups, too -- will find David Slonim's wacky story and goofy characters irresistible.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 2-Mr. Peters is an inventor and owner of the Yum, Yum Chocolate Candy factory. His two employees are Johnny, who loves his job almost as much as he loves his yellow rubber ducky, and Pauline, who loves her job and playing the drums. One day the duck falls into the chocolate vat and chaos ensues. Mr. Peters scuba dives to the rescue through pipes filled with chocolate and comes up with a wonderful idea (drum roll from Pauline!). Soon everyone in the town is celebrating the Yum, Yum Chocolate Duckies with a big parade full of Ducky hats and Ducky balloons and lots of chocolate duckies. This wildly nonsensical story should appeal to the younger set, with sly cartoon illustrations delineating plenty of amusing action on every part of each and every page.

Superb!5
Excellent story, Fantastic artwork. This is a super book for birthdays, showers, or story hour at the library. Kids love it. Adults will get a hoot out of the story as well. (Pauline with a Minnesota accent is spot-on). Found it first at the library. It is a family favorite; a top 5 for my 5 year old son.
I also recommend He Came with the CouchHe Came with the Couch and Moishe's MiracleMoishe's Miracle: A Hanukkah Story; both with artwork by David Slonim.

Cute Book5
My three year old absolutely loves this book. It's a simple book with wonderful illustrations. I just like to hear her say the word calamity!

Solid Effort5
I grew up with David in NJ but lost touch a very long time ago. He was a brilliant illustrator back then and when I discovered he had a book published I rushed out to get it for my son. What a great story and the illustrations are very colorful, detailed and fun.

So not only do I get to share a great book with my son, I also get to tell him I knew David before he was famous! I can't wait to pick up his newest title.
