Not Really
Not so bright after all. The GigLight is much brighter and provides much better coverage on the music stand.
Music, can't say... Books in bed? Perfect!
I didn't realize the Mighty Bright was intended for music stands until I came on Amazon to order my second. I bought the first at a Borders Book Store as a book light on the recommendation of the cashier, who told me it was the one for which he got the least returns and had the longest bulb life. I was getting it for my partner who likes to read in bed later than I can tolerate the light. That first Mighty Bright lasted us a year. Its durable clip held it in place on the book; the tiltable, extendable neck focused the light right where she needed it; it illuminated well enough for her to comfortably read with no other light in the room; the black hood protected her eyes from a direct hit; and it didn't produce enough stray light to prevent me falling asleep. The joint where the neck attaches to the body broke after a year of nightly reading. I don't feel this was due to flimsy design so much as high usage. In any case, $25-35 a year seems a reasonable price to pay for her reading and my sleep, so here I am, a repeat customer! Although I can't speak for sheet music, if it's standard hardback or smaller, the Mighty Bright should serve its purpose.
Truly Mighty Bright
After trying several different solutions, I've found this to be the best choice by far. It truly puts out a smooth bright light, and it's small, light, and stands flat on it's own. The articulating arm works well and allows one to put the light where it's needed.
