Customer Reviews
very interesting; very spiritual; very flaky
this book is an easy read. darren daulton no doubt has become a very spiritual person. he talks alot about his faith in christ and hopes for a new age when we will gain higher consciousness. it's a very hopeful book. it's a little bizarre but he seems very sincere. he alludes to alot of mystical notions with out-of-body experiences and time travel through the 4th and 5th dimensions that are a little hard to relate to. the bottom line is that he is searching for the universal spirit like so many of us and his future writings hopefully will fill in many of the holes in this book. if u like this sort of stuff you will be intrigued but if u are a skeptic i don't think this book will prove concrete enough to appeal to you. i would say that daulton has achieved a sort of prophet-lite status. hopefully the holy spirit will continue to work through him so that he can continue to share deeper meaning with us all.
Awakening
A message...a very simple message...BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. In this book the Author, Darren Daulton, puts his life in perspective and lays all his cards on the table. For those readers who don't know who Darren Daulton is I can only give my "opinion" of the man. I watched Dutch for several years while growing up in Eastern Pa. in the late 80's into the early 90's. He was the "Captain/Leader" of the 1993 Philadelphia Phillies "Team of Dreamers". I say "Team of Dreamers" because that's exactly what they were. A complete unit of players that played the game the way it was meant to be played. Darren was the unquestionable leader of the team. He was the leader for several reasons but most notably because he EARNED IT. As the old saying goes, "Respect is EARNED, NOT GIVEN". To a lot of players and coaches Dutch was the "Glue" that held the cast of "characters" together and helped propel them from a worst place team into A WINNER.
The Title to this book is "If THEY only knew" but after reading it I'd say the title should be "If WE could only believe". Dutch tells a story of his personal Journey toward, what can only be considered, "Enlightenment". He touches upon some very serious subjects while at the same time engaging in what most of us consider as "Taboo" subjects. At the heart of the book we find a man who believes that he has been chosen. Chosen?..for what u ask?...TO AWAKEN US. Obviously this kind of book isn't going to get through to everyone, especially to people with LARGE EGO's. If you are someone with an "Open-Mind" or at least a general interest in "Alterative Theories" than this book IS FOR YOU! Anyone looking for a "Dutch Daulton" biography will be disappointed, but on the other hand, anyone who "FEELS" like there is more to life and more to yourself than meets the eye(or to your five senses as Dutch puts it) than this is a MUST READ! Its main purpose is simple..RAISE YOUR CONSIOUSNESS and AWAKEN YOUR TRUE SELF!
Dutch points out in his book that some people/society will say he's "Crazy", but anyone who knows anything about Darren "Dutch" Daulton knows that he's a leader and that he wants the best from each of us. His way of leading is from the HEART and BY EXAMPLE. At no time does Dutch shy away from his own personal demons and failures. The simple fact is that we all have demons and we all have failed but what separates us all is HOW WE REACT TO THEM. To the people who call him crazy I'd like to say one thing...Remember when society said "Galileo" was crazy?.....
Personally, I say "Give me an HONEST crazy man over a Sane BS'er any day of the week....and Twice on Sunday!"
When I was done reading this book I walked away thinking 2 things. Number 1, I need to change..change from within..and Number 2, THANK YOU DUTCH...Thank you for your Honesty and Courage!
...oh yea, and please don't shoot the messenger.
thanks daulton
I sent this book to my son for Christmas and needed to share his comments regarding if They only Knew. You see my son is incarcerated in the California penal system. One of the few things I can provide my son is some commissary money and books from Amazon.com.
I received a call from my son Christmas Eve and was elated at this change in attitude. He was happy, cheerful and thankful to me for as he puts it "being a caring friend and father. As I held back tears curiosity got the best of me and I had to ask what brought about this remarkable change.
He stated that he had read the book I sent him If They Only Knew by Darren Daulton 10 times. He stated that he opened his mind and heart and that a presence of acceptance had overcome him. We did not have a lot of time to talk and he wanted to wish the rest of the family a Merry Christmas.
I am not sure of what specifics made my son feel this way but I can only thank God for instilling a sense of kindness to my son during Christmas 2007. I have since read If They Only Knew and can relate somewhat to my sons revelation. I will always be thankful for that telephone conversation I had with my son Christmas 2007.
