Product Description

Rebellious, headstrong, independent - and on her own at age 15 - Lorelei dreamed of being a model, and made that happen through serendipity; a chance meeting with a '70s SoCal Rock Star opened the A-list Hollywood doors to a wondrous world, as well as a full-blown romance. Pounding the pavement in L.A. and New York taught her the hard knocks of being a working class model. Sheer will and determination jetted her off to Europe, where she became a top runway and magazine model, and where she met the doomed love of her life, fiancé Steve Clark of Def Leppard. With humor, pathos, and a world map of insight, Runway RunAway takes readers on a breathless journey around the globe with a backstage pass to high fashion, true romance, and Rock 'n Roll from some of the biggest names in the business. ****California residents**** Please add $1.40 Sales Tax per book: 8.25%, making the total price including CA Sales Tax= $18.35 per book. Loved the book!5
I am a huge Def leppard fan which is the reason I bought this book. The author tells all about her life as a high fashion jet settting model who has relationships with rock stars like Don Henley and Steve Clark. She begins her journey at a very young age and always stays very independent and true to herself. She paints a picture of Steve as a shy gifted artist who never understood his own talent and an addiction problem that eventually cost him his life. The book is full of pictures that give a great behind the scenes look at the band. I only wish there was a little more about the other band members and their girfriends but I understand and respect Miss Shellist's desire to protect their privacy.

Dark Places3
If you are going to buy this book forget who wrote it and who is in it. Do not go into reading this book feeling one way or the other about it. Just read it for what it is. As someone who has battled with alcohol and made several suicide attempts in the past I found sections of this book hitting me hard. It seemed all too familiar. I understood what the author was trying to get across to the reader and it is understandable if some miss the point about trying to find your way in what is a very dark place. Much can be said and argued about her including so much of her life with the late Steve Clark or how little she included about her life in the here and now. I will admit that I enjoyed reading this book and I do give Ms. Shellist credit for sharing her turbulent life with the rest of us. If you're going to read this book just make sure you leave your preconceived notions at the door.

Sadly disappointing1
I really wanted to enjoy this book. I remember the tragic story of Lorelei and Steve Clark of Def Leppard and wanted to know more about Lorelei, the survivor. This book purports to be Ms. Shellist's life story, but it focuses only on her past, which was certainly colorful. Since Steve's death, she has done some admirable things, such as working with at-risk teens and young models trying to break into the business. Unfortunately, none of that is mentioned in the book. She focuses primarily on her tragic relationship with Steve which, I realize, was a large and defining part of her life but certainly not the only part and definitely not the most recent. She mentions that her reason for writing the book is to finally heal and reflect. I'm not convinced that this book was the vehicle for either of those activities. She doesn't mention anything (other than Al-Anon) that she has done to help her move on with life after Steve. For someone who works as a Life Advisor and suggests that this book is a journey in self-discovery, Runway Runaway is somewhat embarrassing. It's not much more than tabloid fodder, and I came away feeling sorry for Lorelei as it seems that she has in fact not really moved on after all these years.
