Possibly the greatest introductory book to electronics ever written. I keep this one around to remind me of where I started, over 25 years ago!

Every engineer should have this book. A great reference, extremely well written. There have been rumors of a 3rd edition coming soon.
Hot Air Rises and Heat Sinks: Everything You Know About Cooling Electronics Is WrongHot Air Rises and Heat Sinks: Everything You Know About Cooling Electronics Is Wrong by Tony Kordyban
Buy new: $38.70 / Used from: $46.90
A fun introduction to the thermal design of electronics. Not a particularly rich source of equations or reference material, but will give you a sense of what matters and what doesn't.
Printed Circuits Handbook (McGraw Hill Handbooks)Printed Circuits Handbook (McGraw Hill Handbooks) by Clyde Coombs
Buy new: $108.42 / Used from: $82.01
A spectacular reference on PCB design and fabrication techniques. Lots of information about the transition to ROHS / lead-free assembly. I found the chapters on soldering and fluxes to be very illuminating - this is the kind of stuff they don't teach you in school.
