Customer Reviews

Works great for over a year now.5
I came overseas with a Triplite UPS that I found out wouldn't work with the 50 cycle power here. I saw this unit, I read the reviews, and I crossed my fingers and ordered. So far so good. The unit recognizes the 50 Hz power (coming through a 220/110 transformer) and works like a charm.

Some things about this UPS. There are 8 receptacles on top. 4 of them work with the battery while the other 4 don't BUT they do pass through the surge protection, so I've got my printer and battery chargers for my camera and laptop hooked up to those units. Having the receptacles on top is excellent for me, since I tend to shift things around every few weeks and it is nice to see my plugs when I work with them, rather than having to reach behind, etc. That's an esthetic issue, but it works for me.

There is a red light that, when lit, tells you there is some problem with the power being supplied. The UPS checks to make sure the power/ground are on the right prongs. That was great since my house was wired wrong, so I fixed it and now that little red light is off.

There is an instant on/off switch on top of the unit. I like it better than some that require you to hold a button for 3 seconds or so. The switch is mechanical and is recessed just a tad so you will not accidentally activate it. I've been messing around with the unit for a couple of weeks and have not accidently bumped it. I like the idea of a quick push to turn things off, if I have to.

The software went in easy and then I decided I didn't want it, and it removed just as easily.

Actually, now a couple weeks later, I've decided to re-load the software since it allows you to program a quick shutdown to protect the battery or slow shutdown to keep the unit running as long as possible, or any point in between. We have frequent (more than twice a day) black outs here, so I don't really want a quick shutdown since the blackouts are only for 1 to 5 minutes each time, and I don't want to shutdown.

Anyway, loading and unloading the software is painless so I find it is easy to experiment to find the right solution.

I also have the 750VA which I will review separately. This is an first-class product that I will continue to buy and recommend.

IT IS NOW OCTOBER 17, 2007. The thing has worked perfectly. I just noted, in a report that the software creates, that in the past 4 weeks I've had 42 power outages. No hiccups. I have just bought two more--one for my VCR (I'm tired of the blinking light every morning when I get up) and one for my Boston Acoustic radio cause I don't want to destroy a $500 dollar radio/CD player when I can protect it for a mere $50 and this way the clock stays on time, too.

The APC Has Worked Flawlessly For Over 2 Years5
I'm not sure what happened with flagday1960's APC UPS, but I have had mine for over 2 years and it has performed flawlessly. Whenever I've had an electrical power outage, the APC's software notifies me that it has reverted to battery power, and informs when commercial electrical power has been restored. I can view the stats for my UPS - when and how long the last "event" (battery power activation) occurred, and the UPS current charge status. My 350R has only 6 outlets - 3 battery/surge and 3 surge, the current 350 model provides 8 outlets - 4 of each. While I can replace the internal battery of my 350R when it does die and is unrechargeable, I'll likely buy a new 350R in the near future, primarily for the extra 2 outlets.

Great support5
The UPS arrived dead. I called tech support and was very quickly diagnosing the failure. For whatever reason, the UPS was not being powered by the wall outlet. No problem, they sent me a new one using overnight shipping. The product is great, and their support is amazing!
