comprehensive guide to this popular area of collecting based on Beatrix Potter's children's books
Beatrix Potter's "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" wasn't published until 1902, so collectibles springing from it couldn't be too old. Many of these have not appeared until the 1980s and '90s when there was a wave of renewed interest in this venerable children's book. Many of these plates, mugs, and other ceramic items with illustrations of the characters or in the shape of them have held their value in the range from $50.00 to $200.00. Early items from about the 1920s sell in this range too, except for a few rare and especially desirable items such as a biscuit tin for about $400.00 and a doll with a value of $5,000.00. Some other early doll characters can fetch in the few hundreds. All of these varied items throughout the 20th century are photographed in clear color photos with brief captions and in most cases estimated prices. Introductory chapters by the leading collector and author of previous books Debby Dubay treat the publishing history of Potter's children's books, the course of interest in these and related collectibles, and the varied kinds of items and their makers. The up-to-date, comprehensive guide is the fundamental introduction and reference for the Peter Rabbit collectibles.
Love Debby DuBay's new book on Potter! A must for the collector!
This charming book opens with Debby DuBay chatting away on how she met the Miss Potter and collector of today - Kara Sewall. I love this book and highly recommend it to all collectors, Peter Rabbit and Potter fans. Thanks to Debby DuBay for another charming book; she has a unique way of inviting us into her life and the lives of her friends and then getting us addicted to whatever the subject is that she is documenting. I am now a Limoges and Potter collector.
Love this Beatrix Potter Collectibles Price Guide
I have collected Beatrix Potter for many years and finally a price guide is available on many of the pieces I have collected. I highly recommend this book to collectors of Beatrix Potter memorabilia from Wedgwood, Crummles, Schmid Music Boxes, etc., from the 1970s to today. LOVE this price guide!
