Handkerchiefs are the perfect collectible: they are inexpensive, useful, decorative, fun, and easy to pack in a suitcase! Whether a souvenir of a memorable occasion or a memento from a loved one, this author shows that all are worth preserving. This book is absolutely charming. Organized by theme, hundreds of handkerchiefs are shown in over 300 color photographs representing over 30 states, major cities, popular tourist destinations, and many continents. Examples date from the 1940s to the early 1960s and include handkerchiefs by designers Billie Kompa, Tammis Keefe, Pat Prichard, Frederique, and others. Enjoy lovely floral prints, holiday motifs, the best quality fabrics, bright colors, intriguing designs, hand-rolled or neatly machine-stitched scalloped edges, fine lace trim, and original paper labels or tags. Up-to-date pricing and informative descriptions make this newly revised book ideal for any collector, dealer, or world traveler.

Customer Reviews
Not for the serious collector
This book can most accurately be described as simply an album of the author's own handkerchief collection. Despite the misleading title, there is no helpful information for the serious collector, i.e., research on the various periods, artists, techniques, types of collections, resources and organizations. Also missing is an explanation of the methodology used for dating and pricing.
The photography is presented without detail even when a detail is described in the cutline.
A more careful editing could have eliminated annoying grammatical and spelling errors.
Disappointment from page 1 to page 144.
You have to wonder if the author of this book had an editor. It is full of misinformation and was a big disappointment from beginning to end. Textiles were misnamed, flowers were identified wrong, price guide was completely unrealistic, the sizes of the hankies were misrepresented, and it lacked any history or information that a collector would be interested in. Many hanky categories were neglected or omitted entirely and most categories that were represented were incomplete and lacked history. I gave the book two stars only because I liked the photos of the hankies that were shown. Next time the author writes a book, she should stick with a subject she knows something about.
Not for the serious hanky collector
Doesn't give a lot of info for the serious collector. Author basically shows off her collection that is not that varied, if she is a serious collector. Waste of my money.
